Holes in the Sky

The Ben More Range is a fabulous one for affecting the local weather patterns, one of its most endearing aspects is the effects of south easterly airflow patterns on overcast weather. Where all around there is a thick cloud base as far as the eye can see, Ben More punches through that, and produces striking sunbeams especially in winter.

This image is taken well after sunset, in the afterglow of a rich pink pastel sunset, shining down through the hole formed in the clouds, it was barely visible, in heavy dusk, though the camera makes it seem like daylight.
